Action Rentals, LLC- Miami, FL, a leader in the equipment rental and sales business, is seeking a Controller/CPA to handle day-to-day financial operations related to month end closings, preparing financial statements, and maintaining adequate internal controls and regular reporting. The successful candidate will take charge of the monthly, quarterly and annual closing and reporting processes, quarterly audits, define and document procedures, implement appropriate controls, and streamline financial systems for multiple business locations.

Position responsibilities:

  • Handle all general accounting responsibilities of the Company, including supervising and managing rapid monthly closes and audits
  • Assure accuracy of monthly financial reporting process ensuring that all reported results are in compliance with GAAP and company policies and procedures
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Provide accounting advice and guidance to accounts payable, accounts receivable and the operations teams
  • Monitor, control and audit departmental cost center budgets
  • Provide application development and maintenance (resident “expert”) over the Company’s finance software package (Point of Rental and QuickBooks)
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting package, inclusive of all supplemental supporting documents
  • Supervise accounting team (including Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable)
  • Analyze financial data to detect errors or missing information and initiate corrective actions as needed
  • Assist with forecast, budgets and analysis of financial data
  • Assure compliance with all tax matters including income tax, local taxes and sales tax
  • Continually develop process improvement plans and capabilities of accounting/finance staff
  • Perform other special projects or duties when required

Requirements:

  • Experience in fast paced entrepreneurial, closely held environment
  • Master’s Degree in Accounting and CPA
  • 7-10+ years Accounting experience
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with multiple profit centers
  • Experience with Inventory is required
  • Strong background in financial and management reporting
  • Experience with preparing journal entries, internal controls and external audits
  • Expert in accounting processes and procedures
  • Experience in budgeting and financial modeling
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Strong analytical and technical accounting skills
  • Willingness to learn, be flexible, and possess the ability to work effectively under deadlines
  • Must be a team player who is able to effectively multi-task
  • Must possess a “take charge/make it happen” attitude with a keen eye for profitability, efficiency and productivity
